Let’s Play!
Campaign for the CPS Playground

Investing in Play at Community Partnership School

At CPS, we believe that access to the outdoors and opportunities for recreation help children thrive both inside the classroom and out. Children learn and grow through play, physically, mentally, and socially.

We relocated to our current home a few years ago, transforming a previously abandoned warehouse into a bright, well-appointed school building and community hub. Well into our restoration effort, we encountered unforeseen drainage concerns requiring remediation outside the scope of our budget. We have explored and implemented solutions to this persistent problem and now have a permanent solution that will allow us to finish what we started and bring our vision for play, and our play space, to life.

The Carolyn Korman Jacobs Playground

Our play space is aptly named in recognition of longtime CPS trustee Carolyn Korman Jacobs, a multi-day/week classroom volunteer, field trip chaperone, and consistent CPS advocate since our doors first opened in 2006. Her extraordinary dedication and support leave all of us - students, teachers, and fellow trustees alike - affirmed and empowered. Play promotes connection and joy, values that Carolyn embodies, and what better way to celebrate her noteworthy contribution to CPS than by dedicating our playground to her.

Naming Opportunities

  • We know a newly renovated playground will attract more prospective families to CPS. A Leadership Circle gift will provide the financial and physical foundation for our playground renovation efforts and fully underwrite a year of tuition assistance for a new CPS student. Leadership Circle donors will receive prominent recognition on the mural wall of the renovated CPS playground.

Please contact the CPS Advancement Office for more information.

Encircling the playground will be the activity track, an area for students to run, scooter, and play with their peers.

  • 2 opportunities available

Our friends at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy have graciously donated a wonderfully appointed play structure that includes a slide and climbing tower. Further support of the playset includes its permanent installation along with all necessary safety features.

A much-loved feature of nearby playgrounds, this addition to the CPS playground was added based on student input.

  • 2 opportunities available

Help upgrade the most popular feature of CPS’ current play space, and provide students the opportunity to learn about friendly competition.

  • 2 opportunities available

A place for students and adults to rest and chat; two benches are included in the proposed playground design.

  • 12 opportunities available

The proposed design of the CPS playground features numerous trees, providing shade for students and teachers and adding greenery back to our neighborhood.

  • 20 opportunities available

The addition of raised garden beds will multiply hands-on, science-based experiences for CPS students and potentially provide fruits and vegetables for the CPS community.
